Alumni City Privacy Practices
OVERVIEW

AlumniCity is committed to protecting the privacy of our members' personal information. The purpose of this policy is to inform you of AlumniCitys' information practices related to the information that you provided to us when you registered our site, which includes:

WEBSITE AGE RESTRICTIONS

This alumni website is intended for graduates or people that attended your school in the past. In most cases, the youngest age someone registers is usually 18, but in some special cases, some alumni have graduated at a younger age. The alumni site does not knowingly collect or maintain information from those under the age of 13. Furthermore, no part of the site is intended for use by those under the age of 13.

COLLECTION AND USE OF YOUR INFORMATION

We collect information at different points in your visit to your alumni website. We use the data to make your online experience easier showing content that you may be interested in, and displaying the content according to your preferences.

    1. When you Register

When you register on our websites, we require you to provide certain information, such as your name (maiden name if applicable), email address, birthdate, graduation year, and a password to access the site. Some information we collect is optional, such as mailing address, occupation, location, and a bio. Please remember that once you submit your information, some, not all, of it will become viewable by everyone else registered. Mailing address and passwords are not made public but your name, occupation, location, and bio will be listed on the site if supplied.

    2. Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of information stored locally to your personal computer. These files are unique to your computer and read by our website. Cookies contain information to make your online experience more enjoyable. For example, when you log on to your alumni website, the browser allows you to log on without supplying your email and password each time you visit our site. You can change your cookie settings to not allow cookie creation and reading, but choosing to do this will deny access to our websites. Cookies are not harmful to your computer and anymore are a standard in web programming and development.

    3. Our Message System

We take our users privacy to another level by implementing a Message System, which does not display your email address or the recipiants email address. This also prevents webbots from searching the HTML content of our webpages and finding email addresses within the HTML code. If you wish to disclose your email address to the sender or recipiant of a message, you can do so at your own discretion. AlumniCity will not read messages or disclose information contained in the messages unless we feel that it is necessary to share information in order to investigate or prevent activities that may be illegal or threatening to any person.

    4. Message Boards and Photo Albums

Information submitted to photo albums or message boards (forums) become public to the website members, so please be cautious in what information or pictures your provide. Your alumni website has a designated moderator(s) to keep a close eye on activities taking place on the site and reserves the right in taking actions against anyone not abiding to the rules stated, including the use of profanity or the submission of pictures that sexual, threating, or crude in nature.

    5. Your Personal Biography/School and Current Pictures

Our websites allow you free form entry biographies. Information provided in this fall under the same rules as the message board and photo albums. Please exercise caution when submitting this information.

SHARING YOUR INFORMATION

AlumniCity does not share your information with any third parties or advertisements. Your information stays with AlumniCity. In the event of a business transition, for example a merger, our databases, which house your information, more than likely become part of the assets transferred. If this situation would ever arise, you will be notified with a notice on your website.

However, we may disclose your information if required by law if it is necessary to conform to applicable law, to protect or defend the properties or AlumniCity or to investigate potential illegal activities or threats taking place on our website.

CHANGING/UPDATING YOUR INFORMATION

AlumniCity websites provides ways of letting you update your profile information, such as your name, birthdate, email, pictures, etc. After logging into the site, you can click the "My Profile" section. After making your changes, click the "Submit" button. The webpage will let you know that your update was completed.

COMMUNICATIONS FROM ALUMNICITY

AlumniCity does not make it a habit of sending you bulk email messages. The purpose of our website packages include setup, maintenance, and color customization. AlumniCity is not in the business of trying to sell other products to you. We simply want to reunite your alumni. Although, there may be instances where AlumniCity needs to communicate information to you, but this will only be done with a notice on your website, and not a direct email. Your alumni website is equipped to send you emails per your requests. For example, if you happen to forget your email address or password used to register, a mechanism has been placed to get that information to you via email. Also, if you choose to have our website email you when someone from your graduating class registers, we will do so. You can opt out of this by clicking on "My Profile" and unchecking the "Email me when someone from my class registers" checkbox.

INFORMATION SECURITY

We have applied physical, electronic and procedural means to store and maintain your information in a highly secure environment. You are required to use a password to access this website. This security measure is intended to prevent someone else gaining control of your information and making changes beyond your awareness. It is therefore important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your profile, including your password, and to your computer by ensuring you logoff when finished visiting the alumni site using a shared or public computer. You take full responsibility for maintaining the confidentiality of your password. Furthermore, even though we have implemented these potential hazards, you should be aware that Internet security technology changes very often, meaning that we cannot guarantee that the safeguards we employ today can protect your information from the threats of tomorrow. As a result, we are not in a position to fully claim that your information will be secure under all circumstances.

PRIVACY POLICY CHANGES

It is possible that AlumniCity may occasionally update this policy as our practices are modified or changed. AlumniCity will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat your information by sending a notice to the email address specified in your profile or by placing a notice on the site.
